Two Headed Horse: Flawless Friday Video
Chasing Destino

Indie-folk ensemble, Two Headed Horse, has created a captivating video for their single, “Shimmer.” The video perfectly captures the essence of childhood make-believe while still delivering a heartfelt message through its lyrics. It’s an enchanting blend that left me feeling spellbound. That’s why it is the Flawless Friday Video of the week. “In terms of lyrics, it’s a reflection of an attempted mugging that happened on a bridge in Reading, where my guitar was nearly stolen. The song is quite dreamlike with a sudden awakening a minute and a half in with the words ‘look back’, which were shout ..read more

Boulder Fields: Track of the Day

The new single,”Measures,” from Boulder Fields was just the pick-me-up we needed today. It’s amazing how music can have such a powerful impact on our emotions, isn’t it? This catchy folk-rock track has been named as our “Track of the Day” on this lovely day. It’s worth noting that the single release is in anticipation of the band’s upcoming album, ‘All the Other Ghosts.’ This single is just a taste of what’s to come from the band. “We measure the distance, we measure how far still to go…” “Is it too simplistic to say that sometimes it’s hard to keep going? Then sometimes, at least for some ..read more

Welcome to Top 5 Tuesday! This week’s topic is a freebie, so I’ve decided to share the top 5 books about college that are currently on my to-be-read list. With my oldest kid’s college graduation taking place over the weekend, my mind has been on higher education more than usual. It seemed like a good time to do a books about college list. None of the books on this list are about the typical university experience. There are cozy books about attending university but it’s not our cup of tea. Shanah created the Top 5 Tuesday @ Bionic Book Worm and is now being hosted by Meeghan R ..read more

Boss Battle: Flawless Friday Video

Boss Battle is an alternative rock band with an undaunted and messy sound that will transport you to a world of intense musical nostalgia. They have a video for the single, “Every Unknown Moment,” that is the Flawless Friday Video this week. Maybe it’s just me but in a way their music reminds me of 90s grunge. The band is not 100% grunge. There are some electronic pop sounds mixed in with everything. There will be no complaints here. The band’s dual male and female vocals produce a sound similar to what I imagine a Deftones and Garbage mashup would sound like.  The Austin, Texas band inc ..read more

The Pull of Autumn: Press Play

The Pull of Autumn has released a cover of The Orchid’s “I Was Just Dreaming.” The Boston/Rhode Island collective has done justice to the original. The video is beautiful. There is something captivating about the young lady who looks stunning while contemplating her past and future life choices. If only we could all look just as camera-ready while making decisions.  I would like to give a shoutout to whoever paired the white suit and black nails. The combination speaks volumes without saying anything. It’s striking and impressive. Recently, I watched an episode of “Feud: Capote vs. The S ..read more

In this week’s Top 5 Tuesday post, we’re sharing the best books about cheese that we recommend. April is National Grilled Cheese Month and what better way to celebrate it than by reading books about cheese? If you’re a cheese lover like me, you’ll enjoy reading about the world of cheesemaking and learning how different types of cheese are made. If that’s not enough, there’s also a mystery series that revolves around a cheeseshop owner, which I’m sure will be a treat for all mystery lovers out there. There are also books about how to remove cheese from your life. Who needs that kind of negativ ..read more

Indie pop collective Gramercy Arms presents a new video for ‘Never Say Anything (Magic Door Session).’ Although, it is a new song, ‘Never Say Anything’ is an instant classic. Just this morning, I have listened to it an insane amount of times. “Never Say Anything’ is now on my indie Spotify playlist. I will probably need to hear it again while at the bakery and hanging out with the neighbor cat. Fans of Wilco, Deathcab for Cutie or Elliot Smith will appreciate the music and lyrics of Gramercy Arms. “I initially thought about doing a double album and then decided against it ..read more

It is a good day to do the The NetGalley Book Tag again. Some of my answers are the same as the 2023 post but not all are the same. I found the tag on Anniemieke’s blog, A Dance with Books. AUTO-APPROVED: WHO’S ONE AUTHOR WHOSE BOOKS YOU AUTOMATICALLY WANT TO READ, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY ARE ABOUT? Rebecca Roanhorse REQUEST: WHAT MAKES YOU WANT TO REQUEST A BOOK ON NETGALLEY? Different things make a book appealing to me – the cover, the description, the author, etc. FEEDBACK RATIO: DO YOU REVIEW EVERY BOOK YOU READ? IF NOT, HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT BOOKS TO REVIEW? I have revie ..read more

Tess Anderson: Track of the Day

Tess Anderson, an alt-pop/rock musician based in Vancouver, has a single, “Self-Control” off of her upcoming album. We named it Track of the Day due to its raw honesty and boldness. She has several songs that are incredible but this one is our favorite. We don’t have any self-control either. Now struggle more with resisting donuts than romantic temptations. I wish that I could tell you no I wish that I could take things slow But I just don’t have that self control “Self-Control”  The alt-pop infused album from Anderson, “Before I Come Unhinged,” will be available for repetitive playing ..read more
