Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports Who are the extra guys that could come up huge? In Tuesday’s column I took at look at the reasons why the 2024 season could go sideways. If I strive for anything in this space it is to be objective. After all, you can’t have a column that is largely based on numbers work if it isn’t objective. So, we will balance out that tequila shot from Tuesday with a lime wedge of optimism. Think of this as the Nico Collins or Blake Cashman award. Who are the guys that no one is counting on to do much they could come up huge for the Houston Texans? Every successful team has tho ..read more

Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images Recovering from injury and gunshot wounds never looked so easy. Last season, then first-year wide receiver Tank Dell had the most exciting run of games for a rookie pass catcher in Houston since Will Fuller V. Unfortunately, Dell’s exciting campaign ended when he broke his leg in week 13 against the Denver Broncos. After 11 games, with eight starts, Dell caught 47 passes for 709 yards, a whopping 15.1 yard per catch average and seven touchdowns. He also added another 51 yards on 11 runs, with a 4.6 yard per carry average. While some are never the same after s ..read more

Photo by Ryan Kang/Getty Images Who’s here, who’s not, and who should be at NRG Houston may possess one of the youngest cores in the league, but they are fortified by long-toothed veterans across the roster. The Texans are officially in voluntary OTA practices and the initial news and notes flowing out of practice indicate that several veterans are not present for the first team practices of the year. Namely offensive line starters Laremy Tunsil, Shaq Mason, and Tytus Howard are not there. Tunsil is renown for doing his own thing in the offseason and is not a surprise, but Howard’s absence is ..read more

Facing a top tier set of opponents makes for a much harder road The Houston Texans enter the 2024 season as one of the top contenders, but also have one of the hardest schedules in the league. The recent NFL schedule release debuts the top matchups throughout the season. Houston will be featured in six nationally televised games, making them appointment worthy TV throughout the season. There’s something to love about Houston being back in the spotlight, but there’s also enough about this schedule that will make the road back to the playoffs an uphill battle. Photo by Rich Storry/Getty Images Predicting the production for new Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs. It has been a little over a month since the Houston Texans acquired All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills, and it is time to predict his production. Diggs has been one of the best players in football over the last several years, regardless of position, and he will likely continue to dominate with rookie sensation CJ Stroud at quarterback. Houston already has two very good starting receivers on the roster in Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Collins was extremely productive in 20 ..read more

Stroud and friends are here to alter the NFL landscape Almost seems foreign to have the Houston Texans mentioned in NFL altering storylines.
