The first part of preseason is over - with some relatively disappointing results (although its so early and none of these matter much, to be honest). D.C. United 1 - Montreal Impact 3 D.C. D.C. United made a club record signing this offseason, in the Peruvian Edison Flores. Flores playing for the Peruvian National Team. There has been a lot of positivity around this signing, and some really awesome content produced by the D.C. United social team, and it’s a signing that has me really excited and optimistic around this season and beyond. This signing is a really good signing, not only for the quality that Flores brings on the pitch (more details on this in a bit) but also with the off field appeal of a Peruvian international - D.C. I took some time to think about some of the more relatively things that might become storylines during the 2020 season. Thought I would enumerate some of them here, even though the offseason isn’t even two months away from being complete. Griffin Yow and Moses Nyeman. Will Yow make it to the starting 11 more than a few times? Will Nyeman see any first time minutes Chris Durkin’s loan expires at the end of June. Earlier this year, D.C. United played in the Suncoast Invitational as a part of their preseason. One idea that I’ve been thinking about for a while - now that Loudoun United has gotten off the ground (and has their own stadium), is a DMV tournament involving the following teams: D.C. United Loudoun United Richmond Kickers Invited MLS Team Staying in the DMV might be less exciting for players and staff, but I think this would be awesome for the area and potential cross pollination of fans.
