First at Upmarket is an initiative to give new creatives a helping hand and provide support for their first Upmarket. Held in Hackett Hall, this incubator concept launched in 2021 to encourage new creative small businesses to test the market and has since been very well received by both customers and retailers.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has certainly made an impact on the way we live, socialise and work. Lockdowns globally have resulted in many people taking their jobs home and the home office is now a much-coveted, normal trend feature of modern living.

Growing up in the bush left Dongara artist Jayne Rolinson with lasting memories of places, colourful characters and a deep love for nature. Jayne is now making sure everyone can have a piece of WA bushland through her Cossack Art Awards win and as a selected artist for new apartment developments and gallery openings across the State.

Three artists from the western suburbs of Churchlands, Subiaco and Mt Claremont have been filling the artistic demand for unique and local creations by art collectors, corporate bodies, developers, and galleries around WA and nationally. When South African born and now Ellenbrook resident Hayley Krüger left her hometown for Queensland in 2006, she was not anticipating economic downturns, moving 13 times and undergoing back surgery. But when she finally settled down in WA, Hayley found her calling as an artist and now her native botanical art is being sought around the world!
