Toronto FC’s long wait to return to BMO Field came to an end on Saturday night, and it was none other than Jozy Altidore who helped the team grab a result in its long-awaited homecoming. The veteran striker had been on the outs with the squad since late May, assigned to train individually and away from the team prior to Chris Armas’ recent firing as head coach. Jozy Altidore is back training with Toronto FC, but why exactly he was frozen out remains largely a mystery. Altidore rejoined Toronto FC practice on Monday for the first time since he was frozen out of the team and told to train on his own weeks ago. Altidore was exiled back in late May after reportedly taking issue with head coach Chris Armas over being substituted out of a 1-0 defeat vs. Orlando City, but the recent firing of the American manager opened the door for Altidore to return. “I am just so happy to be back in the team,” said Altidore in a press conference on Monday. “I love Toront ..read more

The Chris Armas era is over in Toronto and it didn’t last very long. Toronto FC has fired Armas after a terrible start to his tenure as Greg Vanney’s replacement. TFC suffered an embarrassing 7-1 loss to D.C. United on Saturday in a record-setting defeat that served as the last straw for TFC management. TFC enjoyed a promising start under Armas, defeating Club Leon in Concacaf Champions League Round of 16 action, but that success didn’t carry over to MLS action as the absence of reigning MLS MVP Alejandro Pozuelo along with the team’s inability to play matches at home in Toronto contributed to ..read more
