It appears there’s a new twist to the Michael Meldish murder trial case. The government submitted a letter yesterday to Judge Cathy Seibel that they had evidence in their possession that they apparently weren’t aware of – that evidence being 33 recorded phone calls of jailhouse snitch David Evangelista – the key witness at the November trial.
These were recorded phone calls taken from June 2017 through August 2017 – the exact time period when Christopher Londonio (one of the four defendants in the trial) reportedly confessed to Evangelista not only about his plans to escape (for which he was a ..read more

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that any government informant – especially ones who are paid – would lie. That’s just not what they do. Impossible.
But once again, a paid government informant was caught blatantly lying to the public. And while the lies told weren’t on the stand – though we’re sure that happened as well – star witness John Rubeo, who testified in Joey Merlino’s 2018 case, is under fire by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Sullivan for his recent appearance on an informant podcast.
Not only did Rubeo make statements that question some of the more serious aspects of tha ..read more

Podcast ratstar Gene Borrello was part of a vicious home invasion ring but when he helped the government convict Vincent Asaro after his bombshell acquittal for a decades-old heist, the government lauded Borello for helping them save face while conveniently forgetting their “star” once tied up a woman as he robbed her home.

Was Carmine Persico’s 100-year sentence from his conviction at the infamous Mafia Commission Trial a miscarriage of justice? Persico’s lawyers believe it was in this March 31, 2019 article in the NY Daily News.

Andrew Campos may not have gotten approval for his nighttime curfew request, but he might not have to worry about his strict bail conditions for much longer.
At today’s hearing on Campos’ Aug. 21 motion to loosen his strict home confinement restrictions to an 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. nighttime curfew, U.S. District Court Judge Frederic Block suggested that a speedy trial would be the best way to solve that problem.
The “best remedy for Mr. Campos is to get acquitted as quickly as possible since he’s obviously innocent,” Block said. “So, I think it’s in his best interest to get a speedy trial.”

Vincent Fiore was the last defendant in the December 2019 indictment involving Andrew Campos to be released on bail.
Like Campos, the government fought vigorously against Fiore being released on bail.
This is an interesting side story to the Andrew Campos case and while we could have told this particular tale ourselves, we thought it would be better told by Judge Lois Bloom, Prosecutor Keith Edelman, and Defense Counsel Lawrence Digiansante themselves.
This hearing took place on January 6, 2020. Fiore was released a few days later on a $1 million bond.

The Covid-19 crisis has wrought a crushing blow to every aspect of American life and none more so than those stuck in the country’s court system.
Since his arrest and indictment eight months ago, Andrew Campos has been one of those whose case has been stalled as the country tries to piece itself back together into some sort of normalcy.
Back in December, after a vigorous fight with prosecutors to get released on a $4.5 million bail package for which he was granted around Christmas, Campos has been following his strict bail conditions to a tee without incident.
Now, he’s asking the Court to eas ..read more
