On September 2nd, the San Francisco Giants held our annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. In lieu of traditional player photos on the scoreboard, Giants players were drawn by children who have faced a cancer diagnosis. The child artists are from the following organizations: Kids & Art, Family House, Okizu, and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. The Kids & Art Foundation was founded in 2008 by Purvi Shah, a parent whose child was diagnosed with cancer at age three, then lost his life six years later. Her inspiration came after seeing the healing impact moments of art and creativity ha ..read more

By Joan Ryan Each month, we will spotlight a Giants employee or initiative that embodies the organization’s values. When we hear the words “inclusion’’ and “diversity,’’ more times than not our brains take us directly to race and sexual orientation. And more times than not, race equates with people of color, and sexual orientation equates with LGBTQ+. Iowayna Peña, Director of Real Estate and Development at Mission Rock, is Black, Native American and identifies as a Lesbian. A policy-wonk at heart, she recently campaigned and won the nomination to be female co-chair of The Alice B ..read more

From Mr. Smiley to Mr. Ferocious in an Instant — Logan Webb Today I thought I’d tell you a little bit about my gameday routine. It’s a bit different from a lot of other starting pitchers. Before I reached the majors, I heard stories about Vogelsong, Bumgarner and others who totally shut down in the clubhouse before their games. They didn’t talk to anyone unless it was absolutely necessary and barely even had eye contact. So when I was called up in 2019, I tried doing the same thing. I kept to myself. I stayed super focused in my own bubble while my teammates talked, laughed and had ..read more

Three Weddings and a Homecoming — Logan Webb Hey, everybody! Welcome back! You know what it’s like the first day of school and you’re so excited see everyone you hadn’t seen all summer? Multiply that by about a thousand. I’m so pumped to be back in the clubhouse with the guys. It feels so good. Maybe it’s weird to say, but it feels like coming home. It really does. (I’ve said the word excited so many times over the last few days to reporters and the radio guys and everyone who asks how I am, that someone suggested an Excited Logan Webb drinking game.) The minute I got word that ..read more

We Are So Ready — Brandon Crawford The first song that came to mind when Austin Slater sent a group text telling us we were finally unlocked? “We Ready” (by Archie Eversole). We are so ready. It’s been great the last couple of days to see everyone again — teammates, coaches, training staff, clubbies, everyone. The only people missing are all of you. Really looking forward to getting the games started and seeing the familiar faces of our Giants fans. You guys are the final piece of getting baseball truly back. Obviously, this has been the strangest and most frustrating off-seaso ..read more

Employee Spotlight — Margo Allen Malone Reflection allows us to see what’s behind us while focusing on the road ahead. My name is Margo Allen Malone and I’ve worked for the San Francisco Giants since Oracle Park opened in 2000. I’m entering my 23rd season with the team serving as Senior Manager of Season Ticket Memberships and Special Projects. That’s a long title that doesn’t fully encompass the many hats I wear. During the offseason my days are spent leading a small team of client relations managers, generating revenue through season ticket renewals, planning client events and rec ..read more
