He isn’t going to be the boss of me! He’s not going to chase book binding threads as I sew books. He isn’t going to sit on my dedicated etching paper blotting towels. He isn’t going to walk over my gel plate while I’m trying to print. He isn’t going to sit on my printmaking papers while I tear them to size. And he isn’t going to walk over my freshly coated cyanotype papers to leave little blue paw prints across the studio floor. He is going to help me bubble-wrap and package my online orders. He is going to help my find the things that I put in a “safe place” but now have n ..read more

The Sour Cherry Tree – a new Reduction Linocut

It’s been nearly two and a half years since I completed my last reduction linocut, Eagles Nest. I hadn’t realised just how much time had passed! It’s wonderful to be back in the rhythm of planning, carving, and printing. ‘The Sour Cherry Tree,’ my new reduction linocut print, captures special memoriues of the yellow-tailed black cockatoos visiting my neighbour’s rainforest Sour Cherry tree. This tree, which succumbed to the relentless rains about three years ago, provided shade and a resting spot for these magnificent birds as they flew from point A to point B. Point A was the macadamia far ..read more

The silhouette of a magnificent Araucaria bidwillii, or bunya tree, crown against the skies of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland is an iconic sight. I have lived in Maleny, the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, for nearly 15 years and will never tire of their statuesque grace. But there is a problem … Bunya Dieback In South East Queensland’s Sunshine Coast Hinterland and the Bunya Mountains, bunya trees are experiencing dieback. This dieback is a concerning trend attributed to environmental stressors like climate, habitat disturbance and invasive species. These iconic trees, vital to the ..read more

MY printmaker’s cat! The Studio is complete again … meow!  This delightful feline came into my life a couple of months ago. Monty. And in true cat-style, he is sitting on the artwork! I’ve missed having a fur-companion. Many people who attended my workshops met Maggie … the Princess of The Studio. She was a beautiful, regal Scottish Deerhound who lived to a very ripe old age of 9 years and 4 months. Trust me, that’s a good run for a such a large dog. But it doesn’t make me miss her any less! Ruby the greyhound spent 6 months with me in the studio last year. She assumed the coma-posit ..read more
