Student Ambassador Joseph White embarked on his very first trip overseas to the Mediterranean with Explorica by WorldStrides. Joseph and his classmates had an incredible time learning about new cultures, eating delicious foods, and most importantly—growing as global citizens. “My trip to the Mediterranean was an amazing way for me to grow as a person and to form new bonds with the people around me. During the trip, I saw parts of the world I never expected to see and experienced things entirely new and different from what I had known my entire life in the States.  One of my favorite thin ..read more

Here’s what he had to say about his Greek adventure: This Spring Break I had the privilege of traveling to Greece with 47 other people from my school through Explorica by WorldStrides. With global PRIDE celebrations just around the corner, many people, organizations, and communities are preparing to celebrate the powerful strides made for visibility and equity within the LGBTQIA+ community. Amidst this excitement, this year on May 17, we are invited to take a moment to reflect on the all-too-real reality that many people still face discrimination of varying levels in their communities and abroad. Homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia can be felt by individuals every day of the year and can affect them long after the fun and celebrations have ended. It is important for us to ..read more

By Student Ambassador, Solomon I. Odom. The first time out of the country was an exciting and new experience for student ambassador Solomon I. Odom and his classmates. His adventures in Switzerland and the Mediterranean were “life altering,” an experience he’ll cherish forever. In March, I departed to Switzerland and The Mediterranean with my high school classmates. From the moment we got on the bus for our departure, to the time we touched down in Frankfurt and Zurich, it was thrilling coming to the realization that we were taking our biggest stride away from home. Some of us were too stunne ..read more

At WorldStrides, our goal is to enable students to see beyond the classroom and to see the world – and themselves – in new ways. We have found that maps can be beautiful and powerful tools to encourage this transformation in perspective. Maps can already be found in the geography classroom, but used creatively, they can also be embedded across content areas in ways that enhance learning and encourage higher order thinking. They are also crucial to an educational travel program before, during, and after a trip. They are that natural bridge between your classroom and your travel destination! Adu ..read more

Tatum Dunham was an Explorica by WorldStrides Student Ambassador on her trip to Japan this past March. Tatum’s experience traveling with her classmates allowed her to open her eyes to a new world of learning and ignited a flame to never stop exploring the world. “Our Japan trip was amazing! The first day was a travel day, and we took a flight down to Dallas, where we then flew into Tokyo. After we landed at the airport, went through immigration, and finished up customs, we all met our tour guide, Taku-san, for the first time! He was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip as a whole. The ..read more
