A fourth season in the Premier League now (officially) awaits Brentford, should anybody have been worried about that possibility. That will be the take away from a weekend which saw the Bees go down 1-0 at Everton. The five game unbeaten run coming to an end and, instead, all eyes front and centre towards the forthcoming West London derby with Fulham at the Gtech. Next up, The Bees will be looking to complete the season double over our West London neighbours Like the Bees, Everton will also feature in the top flight next season so we get to play them twice more (excitement, she wrote). For now ..read more

Can Brentford pick up at Everton where they left off at Luton Town?

Hot off the heels of Saturday’s 5-1 demolition of Luton, Brentford head up to Everton in a game which starts our final four this season. With both teams having earned back to back wins in recent fixtures, one could argue that perhaps any residual pressure has lifted. Not that Thomas Frank has seemed overly perturbed by that over the course of the campaign. The Bees were brutal at Luton Town As ever at this point, we look to the forthcoming fixture. Who do Brentford start with? Is Ivan in contention? Was the moment of crushing Liverpool’s title dreams sufficient to confirm Everton as safe for a ..read more

Simply magnificent from Brentford. Having put the boot into Sheffield United previously, the next game of three against the teams treading gingerly around the relegation zone (Everton are next up on Saturday evening) saw Luton Town hammered at the weekend. A 5-1 thrashing inflicted by an utterly joyous and free flowing Bees’ team. Scenes in the away end at Luton Town As ever at this point, we look back at the game just gone. Who made the headlines for Brentford at Luton? Who does Thomas start with at Everton, such is the pace and form of all the attacking players (including Kevin Schade whose ..read more

Is this the most crucial game in the Premier League survival race?

Brentford travel to Luton Town on Saturday afternoon for a fixture that, in recent times, would have been played in any one of the divisions below yet now finds itself centre stage in the Premier League survival race. With the hosts knowing they could overtake both Nottingham Forest and Everton (who meet on Sunday in El Breachico – or should that be El Cashico?), this one really does have it all to play for. Previous tough going in the Championship / League One / League Two for the Bees at Kenilworth Road As ever at this point we look to the game ahead. A 2-0 win for Brentford over doomed Sheffield United was a game as much noted for the three points as the returns from injury of both Ethan Pinnock and Kevin Schade. Next up for the Bees, Saturday’s trip to another relegation threatened side in Luton Town. Come for the win. Stay for the much welcomed injury returns. As always, we use the time after a game to reflect on shone for Brentford. Who made the top five and was player of the match? Did anybody for Sheffield United do anything of note? Could some of those returning favourites start when we kick off at Luton? And as always, you can take ..read more

Brentford took a point following the the thrill-a-minute 3-3 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday. There’ll be plenty of optimism amongst the squad off the back of this one and, with the visit of Sheffield United next up, could the Bees return to winning ways after three games unbeaten? Ivan? What’s the final score? As ever at this point, we look back to who shone for Brentford? Who caused Villa headaches and will anybody be in line for the starting XI when Sheffield United come to town? Does anyone give a stuff what went down at full-time? And as ever, the post-match debrief and top five player ..read more

Hot off the heels of a midweek draw with Brighton (the post-match review and player ratings are here), Brentford face another tough test on Saturday. This time around, the trip to Aston Villa. If nothing else a game where there will be plenty of scores to settle following what happened late on at the Gtech in December. Martinez (and earlier, Ollie) a work of art. Neal – innocent…… As ever, in the build up, we have a match preview. This one has it all to play for with potential joy on the injury front, Aston Villa pushing for the Champions League and Brentford fans simply hoping that the wonder ..read more

A 0-0 between Brentford and Brighton saw another point on the board for a Bees’ team who spent this one very much on the backfoot but looking rock solid throughout. Next up, Saturday’s trip to an Aston Villa side who ended up on the wrong end of a 4-1 shoeing at Manchester City last night. Mark Flekken keen to get involved at both ends last night As ever at this point, we look back at the game just gone. Who was star player? Who made Brighton rock (and there are more sub-par dad jokes in the main article)? Could changes be made for the Aston Villa game? Who upset VAR man Michael Oliver….? You ..read more

Saturday night was all sorts of fun. Brentford running rings around Manchester United although still wondering how it ended in a draw rather than another famous win for Thomas Frank’s team (the post match debrief from that one is here). Now, we all go back to the Gtech on Wednesday evening with Brighton the visitors this time. The calm before the storm on Saturday As ever in the build up, we look to who might make the Brentford starting XI. Will there be changes? Was Thomas bluffing in his press conference? Will Brighton be knackered after Sunday’s trip to Liverpool? And as ever, we look to al ..read more

An action packed Saturday night at the GTech saw Brentford and Manchester United share the most one-sided of draws. The Bees out playing and outshooting their rivals by a country mile before that awful, then awesome, ending. Let’s hope the visit of Brighton on Wednesday is even half as exciting. As ever at this point, we look back at who shone for Brentford. Who made the top five? Will anyone be staking a claim for a starting berth against Brighton? Were Manchester United that bad or is it more a case of The Bees being that good? Will we see more of Saman against Brighton? And as ever, we look ..read more
