Our weekly Premier League awards honour the best – and worst – of the football action from the weekend. Player of the Week Just when you thought Erling Haaland had hit a slump, that he might actually be human, he roars back into form with a sensational performance against Wolves at the weekend. The Norwegian striker became the 32nd player in Premier League history to score four goals in a single game, taking him to 25 for the season. Yes, two of them were penalties, but his final strike was a sublime finish, arguably his finest since joining Man City. On a mission! pic.twitter.com/M0fD6 ..read more

The fall from the Premier League all the way to League One is a hard, painful one to endure, as Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town learned this week.  Both clubs were relegated from the Championship to the third tier on Saturday, but it wasn’t so long ago that they were gracing the top flight with their presence. The 13 years since the Blues were last in the Premier League (and winning the League Cup) have flown by, while the Terriers were there as recently as 2019.   They join a rather lengthy list of clubs who have dropped down the divisions over the past 32 years (yes, we do r ..read more

Erling Haaland put his recent poor form and injuries behind him on Saturday to remind everyone why he is still the best centre-forward in the world.  The Norwegian put four past Wolves at home in a 5-1 win over Gary O’Neil’s side, two of which came from the penalty spot, but his fourth strike was a superb effort from just inside the area that flew past goalkeeper Jose Sa. It came off the back of his goal against Nottingham Forest last weekend, when he was subbed on in the second half to clinch the game on his return from injury, meaning he has five goals in his last two games.   Tha ..read more

Five things we learned from the Premier League weekend, featuring ‘entertaining’ Manchester United and Arsenal’s in-form enigma. Ten Hag is right, Manchester United are entertaining but not how he would like “We are one of the most dynamic and entertaining teams in the league at this moment. We are creating loads of chances by playing good football,” Erik ten Hag said after his Manchester United side drew at home to relegation-threatened Burnley. Zeki Amdouni’s late penalty, following some inexplicable defending, earned Burnley a point and extended United’s run to one win in six games. Their ..read more

Our weekly Premier League awards honour the best – and worst – of the football action from the weekend. Moment of the Week The North London derby always delivers, doesn’t it? Tottenham were on the wrong side of the fine margins against Arsenal, as Ange Postecoglou’s side fell to a 3-2 defeat. Spurs trailed 3-0 to Arsenal at half-time, in a home derby, for the first time in the Premier League era, though it could have been so different.
