With the schedule set, it’s time to take a look at what stands out as the season looms.
There’s less than a month until the 2024-25 season starts.
I don’t know about you guys, but that snuck up on me. Between the Euros, a highly active transfer market, and the high-level play of my beloved Philadelphia Phillies, I’d lost track of some time in terms of club football’s offseason. But on August 18 the Bianconeri will step onto the field at the Allianz to meet newly-promoted Como to start the new campaign.
As is traditional around here, we’re going ..read more

A young Dutchman (who now represents Spain) could be on the way out to try and secure the services of another Dutchman.
One Juventus youngster is basically out the door and another one appears to be not too far behind.
In the hours following Juventus and Roma becoming just a few short details away from agreeing to a deal for young Argentine winger Matias Soulé, the market for Netherlands-born Spanish defender Dean Huijsen is taking shape. According to reports from Sky Italia’s Gianluica Di Marzio and others, Juventus have set ..read more

Hopefully you didn’t order a Juventus jersey with his name on the back in the last week.
Ever since Roma jumped into the fray and opened negotiations with Juventus for Matias Soulé, the young Argentine has held out for one destination and one destination only. He wanted his next club to be in the Italian capital, and it didn’t matter what Premier League club was going to try and pry him away from Juventus — he wanted Roma and that’s it.
Well, it looks like Soulé is about to get what his heart now desires.
According to multipl ..read more

Time to rely on YouTube videos to tell us about the opening days of the Thiago Motta era in Turin.
I, like you, have been very interested to see what the Juventus social media and video team posts these days probably a little more than usual. That’s not just because it’s been to make sure transfer announcements aren’t missed or that it’s the first days of preseason, but also because the very obvious reason of Juventus’ new manager is now officially at the helm and on the training fields at Continassa.
Before they headed off t ..read more

A new development perhaps?
After Juventus’ opening flurry of transfer activity to close out the month of June and begin July, things have slowed down a bit for one very obvious reason — available money. Juve’s front office was always going to be in need of some creativity to give their new manager the kind of squad that he wanted to work with come the 2024-25 season opener in August.
We saw it taken to the maximum with the Douglas Luiz signing last month.
And now, just like when when Juve signed their new goalkeeper, Michele Di Gregorio, the creativity is try ..read more

In a summer in which Juventus are far from flush with cash, Cristiano Giuntoli appears to be resigned to cashing in on two of his young assets, Matias Soulé and Dean Huijsen, who are both two of the biggest names to come out of the Next Gen program.
In a perfect world, Juventus would welcome two of their most talented youngsters back from loan and have a manager who has shown an ability to continue to coach them up work them into the squad without much fuss.
Unfortunately, Juventus’ finances are far, far, far from being in a good kind of sta ..read more

We could be reaching an agreement relatively soon.
Matias Soulé may well be a part of the squad that traveled to Germany for Juventus’ retreat at Adidas’ headquarters, but his future still appears to be very much away from Turin.
And the most likely destination?
Not the Premier League despite Leicester City’s best efforts to flex their financial muscle over one of Juve’s domestic rivals.
According to SportItalia’s Alfredo Pedulla, Roma have upped their offer to try and bring the 21-year-old Soulé to the Italian capital this summer. After seein ..read more

There are some interesting inclusions and exclusions on the list for the next phase of Juve’s preseason.
Juventus are on the verge of their first-of-its-kind preseason retreat to Germany, using the same training center that the German national team recently used as they hosted Euro 2024. The trip will be capped off by their first friendly of the preseason against FC Nurnburg.
On Saturday, Juve released the traveling squad for the training camp.

We talk Mexican Football Corner, cleaning house and odd moves.
Would you take Max Allegri as your national team coach?
Yes, we are changing the intro to this week’s Grab Bag gimmick because Allegri might be back in my life and it’s time for another rendition of everyone’s favorite recurring segment. It’s Mexican football minute time, y’all.
News recently broke that the Mexican Football Federation decided to fire manager Jimmy Lozano after Mexico’s embarrassing faceplant in the Copa America in which they scored exactly once in three group stage matches a ..read more
