Reds Minor Leagues

The Cincinnati Reds drafted Jackson Miller in the 2nd round of the 2020 Major League Baseball draft. With the 2020 minor league season cancelled, Miller did not play in the 2020 year outside of maybe some early games in the spring with his high school. The next season he joined the Arizona Complex League Reds a few weeks into the season, played in three games, then was put on the injured list and didn’t play again that year. He then missed all of the 2022 season. Miller began the 2023 season on the 60-day injured list, too. He returned to the field late in the year – 25 months after his last g ..read more

The Cincinnati Reds signed Ariel Almonte back in January of 2021 out of the Dominican Republic as an international free agent at the age of 17. He signed for $1,900,000 and was the highest paid signee in the Reds group that season along with outfielder Malvin Valdez. At the time of the signing, Almonte had two standout tools – arm strength and power. He was listed at 6′ 4″ and 190 lbs at the time. He’s currently listed at 6′ 3″ and 219 lbs. Seeing recent video of him, even that seems a little bit on the low side. Last night he had the night off. Or at least for a little bit. He was called off ..read more

Reds MiLB Notebook: Nestor Lorant strikes out 10 in relief
Reds Minor Leagues
by Doug Gray
1w ago
The headline can be slightly misleading given that a typical relief outing is a bit short. But to strike out 10 batters you need to pitch at least 3.1 innings. On Friday night Nestor Lorant pitched five innings out of the bullpen for Daytona and he was rather dominant in doing so…. but things didn’t get off to the best start in relief. The first batter that Lorant faced homered to kick off the 5th inning. From that point forward he allowed two hits, no runs, and he racked up 10 strikeouts to close out the game and pick up the win for the Tortugas. On the night, Nestor Lorant threw 79 pitches w ..read more
