Short stories occupy a special place in my heart. They are special because they convey complex ideas in few pages and leaves me perplexed for days. Novels are different, they enjoy the luxury of length. Talking about perplexing stories, the first one that comes to my mind is The Nose by Nikolai Gogol. Reading is therapeutic; I am sure that no one would ever disagree with me on that. But we are living in a cacophonic world, and to enjoy something in such an atmosphere is a mission almost impossible. Try reading your favorite book in a noisy environment; an imaginary hammer is waiting there to bang on you. I am not sure about how others feel about this; it’s difficult for me. I won’t be able to read for long while staying at a place where car honks are being played continuously, as in a musical workshop.
