On Soliloquium’s third full-length album, “Things We Leave Behind”, it felt like I finally started getting things together for real. Most of the previous amateurism was gone, and I attracted interesting guests and collaborators. Here is my deep-dive into the album’s second single, “The Discarded”, featuring Mikko Heikkilä (Kaunis Kuolematon, Read more…

“Catharsis” is the first single from Soliloquium’s 2018 album “Contemplations”, the second full-length release. I hadn’t heard the song in a long time, so it was quite fun to listen to it a couple of times and dive into the music and lyrical themes. Let’s dive into the train of Read more…

"Garden of Truculence" is the first song I ever wrote for Soliloquium back in 2012 - a rather predictable, but still quite good Swedish-style melodic death/doom song, in my opinion. Here's a closer, critical look at the lyric themes and musical ideas. It's a post in a long run of song breakdowns I will be doing. In the end, I hope it will give you a deeper understanding of my music.

“Vakaren” is the only Swedish-language track by favorite band Katatonia, a bonus track on the 2016 album “The Fall of Hearts”. It’s one of the recurring tracks in my singing playlist, and also the only Swedish track I’m comfortable singing, so I always toyed with the idea of recording a Read more…

Why doesn’t Soliloquium play classic Nordic-style melodic death/doom metal anymore, like on the first few releases? Well, that’s something I’m gonna elaborate on. Since many of you enjoyed my rants about extreme metal listening and metal crowd behavior, here’s another one. Please make them stop, right? Sorry, here it starts. Read more…

No, I haven’t branched out my hustling to the point of making metal lyric videos just yet. But I have a talented pal who can do it. Here are my thoughts on what makes good and not so good lyric videos, and what you think about when you order one. Read more…
