Last week I shared Maggie’s story with you. It is a true story where a distraction interrupted a panic attack!  There is much written about this topic, yet many people  (Often before even giving a heartfelt try) will state it does not work for them.  Many have fallen into the ruts of thinking that keep them where they are instead of forging ahead.   Often the giant boulder in the way of progress using distractions comes from self-pity!  We have previously addressed:  How to recognize and redirect self-pity in the post Can you get past yourself? Self-Pity ..read more

ALL IS MADE NEW 1st analogy The Quilt of Life Often a quilt is made by many people that gather. The finished project is determined by the contributors.  Each and every stitch becomes part of the finished project, just as in life people and events have influenced you.  At times you need to reflect and choose who is allowed to work on your quilt.  For a beautiful quilt, you need tight even stitches in accordance with your plan.  IF someone comes to your quilting bee and has dirty hands  stitches haphazardly talks down to you and your efforts,    does not liste ..read more

By John Kasun (Something a little different to bring a smile to your day!) It’s December and my wife is constantly scurrying throughout the house like an elf on steroids. There is not a mouse in sight as they know they will get sprayed with artificial snow and sprinkled with glitter. My wife is very creative and does an excellent job with decorations and accents at any time of the year but at Christmas she goes over the top.             We have four Christmas trees. Two inside and two outside, plus wreaths on every door and one man eating ..read more

Understanding how they are intertwined. Depression is like a magnifying glass that focuses on that which causes mental dissent. It is the stomping grounds for ANGER! An emotion that can either suffocate you internally, that makes you burst at the seams.  Anger grips onto depression and holds on! Are you angry at yourself for your state of mind? Is the anger caused by when you felt wronged and overlooked?                                  ..read more

Some people/families experience chaos at every turn even to the point of being dysfunctional. Anger is a Big thing! It can keep you from happiness. Anger is an all-consuming emotion that often accompanies those who suffer from mental torment. It goes hand in hand with depression and lurks wherever there is self-pity. It dominates over peace, joy, and contentment. Anger can cause a wide array of physical ailments as if symptoms from the stress hormones is not enough. It can stem from an injustice,  or jealousy ( why do they seem to be happy and have it together but not me?). Those injustices even though years past can taint your emotional state and be carried throughout your life ..read more

You can not fight thoughts with thoughts You must fight thoughts with words! Picture thoughts as just flying around in your head.  Spinning around in there are your feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, self-doubt, and mental torment. This creates a whirlwind  of woe is me symptoms and emotions constantly spinning around and around.  They get mixed up  and become a doughy mess. These thoughts become the way you act, the way you view  and live your life.  If the whirlwind in your head keeps  is full of  thoughts such as – I am sad, I am lonely, I am depresse ..read more
