July 1, 2020  Happy Canada Day!!!? Lovely Run Diary #21 30:02 minutes, 4.12 km, 7:17/km BEST RUN EVER! Talk about top of the list destination runs!  I ran on Long Beach in the Pacific Rim National Park.....with Pace Puppy.  Pace Puppy and I left prints in the sand and I didn't need music because....well who needs music when you're listening to the crashing waves and sea gulls!  It was one of those runs that kept a smile on my face the entire time.  It wasn't a long run.  I could have run longer but we walked for hours after that.... I just wanted to enjoy everyth ..read more

Lovely Run Diary #19 42.25 minutes, 5.53 km, 7:40/km June 26 , 2020 I have been unable to run the past few days because of two things:  1. weather 2. shoes. 1.  We have had thunder and lightening on and off for days.  When the weather is not doing those scary things, it decides to begin pouring rain in sheets.  I love running in the rain, but not torrential rain.  So I have been on my elliptical for the past 2 days.  Not nearly as fun as running out and about, but I kept moving.  Having a back up plan for training is a very good idea. 2.  I did purchas ..read more

Lovely Run Diary #18 44:12 minutes, 5.97 km, 7:24 km/hr Sunday, June 21, 2020 Yesterday was the first day of summer.  Happy Summer!  Now, more important than ever, I need to change my morning habits.  I've gotten started but there is no wiggle room anymore.  For me, it will get too hot to run by 8:30 am. To run in the evening means running on pavement that hasn't cooled off, but that would be my back up plan if I miss the morning.  So no missing the mornings!   I had incentive to run yesterday because I bought new Hokas and wanted to test them out.  I was s ..read more

Lovely Run Diary #17 Friday, June 19, 2020 31:31 min, 3.99 km, 7:45 km/hr This morning I actually woke up at 5:30 am with the intention to run while it was cool outside.  And I did it.  Yay!  I need to make my runs happen in the morning when the earth has all night to cool off during the summer months.  After all, I live in a desert and running in the dry heat is next to impossible for me...I've tried and besides it being torture, I feel horrible and it takes days to recover. So about my run this morning...it was quiet out there and the air was so beautifully fresh and cr ..read more

Saturday, June 13 48:04 minutes, 6.52 km, 7:22/km Lovely Run Diary #15 Today's run.... a Lovely RAINY Run.....I waited and waited for the rain to cease, but it did not and has not. My wish for a dry run went out the window and so I waited for no thunder and lightening. That took 2 days.  Today it has been raining solidly, but there is no scary weather otherwise so I have no excuse...well....I could make up a million of them, but the days are dragging on and I don't want to get to the point where I'm starting over with my running.  For me it feels like I am at the starting over point ..read more

Lovely Run Diary #14 Tuesday, June 9, 2020 42.00 minutes, 5.62 km, 7:29/km The weather has been cool and windy with a little bit of rain spitting down.  Perfect for me! Today's run was fuelled by vegan brownies.  This could explain why I ran for 42 minutes when I was dead tired at my starting point.   I am sad to report that the brownies did not speed me up even a tiny bit.  Oh well.  They were good and I ate another one post workout too.  Don't worry, they are healthy enough and I know exactly what is in these... not like many of the power bars out ther ..read more

32:06 minutes, 4.38 km, 7:20 km hr Lovely Run Diary #13 Sunday, June 7th My Andy and my Pace Puppy Today was the best kind of run for me.  It was short, the weather was cool with a few drops of rain, Andy came with me on his bike and Pace Puppy ran back and forth between us as we went along.  I had a smile on my face the entire run.  I felt appreciative that my body, at 51, lets me do this.  I feel stronger and I really enjoy documenting each run with you in my blog.  I don't think anyone really reads these little blurbs I put on here, but it's helping me and ..read more

Lovely Run Diary #12 40:16 minutes, 5.33 km, 7:33/km June 4, 2020 So remember I said in LRD#11 that dog watching was a great way to distract yourself and enjoy your run in a different way?  Well, today on my run, this happened...... Doggie cruising in a bike trailer.  :) It's a crappy picture I know.  Trying to get the shot was hilarious because I had a handheld water bottle and I couldn't see well with my sunglasses to try and hit the camera icon on my phone.  I'm lucky to have captured this.  Sweetest thing ever!  And the doggie turned his head to loo ..read more

Lovely Run Diary #11 41:41 minutes, 5.5 km, 7.35 km/hr It's never going to be easy, is it?  sigh.  Yesterday I was on benedryl for an allergic reaction I've been having once in a while for the past year.  At this point, I have a few suspicious food items that might be the cause, but nothing official.  Anyway, I got home from work, laced up and got out there.  It was a great run actually.  It was cool, I ran slowly, I  felt great.  I showered, had dinner and was sitting on the sofa absolutely over the top exhausted.  I tucked myself into bed.   ..read more

Sunday, May 31, 2020 37 minutes, 5.12 km, 7:20/km Today's run was a new "comeback" of sorts because I feel like I messed up so much that I'm starting over.  Of course, I'm not...I'm continuing on with my journey, but I will acknowledge that I had a setback (see LRGDiary#9).  So I'm calling it my  "setback and new comeback all within the original comeback."  grin  I can't even keep up with myself. My strategy today was simple:  just get out there and move forward....one step at a time.  No pressure or expectations.  Just run and that I did.  So I c ..read more
