How Jakobi Meyers’ high school coach reacted to Patriots WR’s touchdown pass
Boston Herald » New England Patriots
by Steve Hewitt

Stanley Pritchett should have known. Jakobi Meyers’ high school football coach should have known who made that unlikely pass. Pritchett was in bed, watching Sunday night’s game between the Patriots and Ravens on his iPad when suddenly, everybody was calling him. Pritchett is the football coach at Arabia Mountain High School in Lithonia, Georgia, where he once coached Meyers. And now that Meyers is a wide receiver with the Patriots, Pritchett tries to catch as many of his former player’s games as he can. And he was certainly watching when Meyers made the play of the night on Sunday, completing ..read more

Boston Herald » New England Patriots

After back-to-back off days for players, the Patriots fielded their entire active roster at practice Wednesday. Wide receiver Julian Edelman remained absent, despite the fact he is now eligible to participate in practice, having spent three weeks on injured reserve. Rookie offensive lineman Justin Herron, who was placed on IR at the same time as Edelman, returned to the field. Herron suffered an ankle injury on Oct. 25. Per the NFL’s injured reserve rules, Patriots must either add Herron back to the active roster within 21 days or keep him on IR for the season. Defensive lineman Nick Thurman w ..read more

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick stepped out of the football arena for a moment during his video conference to go to bat for Armenia, urging the U.S. to take action against Turkey and Azerbaijan for the atrocities and “ethnic cleaning” currently being perpetrated in the republic of Artsakh. Asked a question about recent comments made by acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller, who recently cited some philosophies used by the Patriots coach, Belichick segued into the devastating situation in Armenia and Artsakh, where reports have alleged war crimes and attacks are being committed by Azer ..read more

Guregian: NFL Power Rankings Week 11
Boston Herald » New England Patriots

The Bills and Cardinals, two playoff-bound teams, hooked up for the most memorable game from Week 10, and perhaps, delivered the most memorable play of the season. It came down to a Hail Mary pass, and while the percentages of completing a last-second heave are slim, the Cardinals magically pulled it off when Kyler Murray scrambled to the left to avoid the pass rush, and put the ball up toward the end zone. DeAndre Hopkins was there, but so were a flock of Bills, who had the Cards receiver surrounded. Hopkins managed to leap up and catch the ball amid a sea of hands belonging to Bills defender ..read more

The Patriots have interesting decision to make as Sony Michel closes in on a return
Boston Herald » New England Patriots
by Karen Guregian

Sony Michel is closing in on a return from injured reserve. Bill Belichick indicated the Patriots running back could be activated this week, although he wasn’t definitive. “We’ll see. Sony’s been working hard,” Belichick said during a video conference. “He’s practiced the last two weeks, so we’ll see how things go this week. But, hopefully.” With the emergence of Damien Harris, who has rushed for 100 yards or more in three of his six starts as the lead back, it’s going to be a challenge getting Michel snaps if he is in fact activated. At this point, it’s doubtful Harris will take a seat to acc ..read more

Patriots OC Josh McDaniels calls Cam Newton ‘a tremendous example of what a leader is supposed to be’
Boston Herald » New England Patriots

Cam Newton was barely in the door at Foxboro when he was named a captain. In a short time, the players were able to see the Patriot quarterback’s inner makeup and witness the example he sets. The coaching staff has also been impressed with Newton’s accountability, and the fight he’s exhibited to turn around recent struggles. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels loves what he’s seen from Newton, and the model he sets for other players to follow. “I think Cam’s a tremendous example of what a leader is supposed to be,” McDaniels said during a video conference. “Leadership isn’t easy.
