The question that every entrepreneur asks themselves… What sets me apart from all the others in my field? What is my magic that brings my business to life? These have been questions that I have been ruminating on all month long. These questions have been keeping me up at night, wanting me to create the best business that I can. On Saturday, I was lucky enough to meet with another entrepreneur from my small business program. She is a family lawyer who is trying to change the way that the system works to make it more accessible for those who need it. I LOVE what she is doing and how she is chang ..read more

Mastering skills brings me back to my high school days. Whether it was basketball, volleyball or softball, it was all about mastering the skills that helped you become a better athlete. Whether it was testing, being class President or speaking in front of a crowd, it was about mastering the skills that helped you become a better student. Everyone is trying to master skills to make them better at different pieces in their lives. I am trying to master waking up at 6:30. I am trying to master doing morning yoga. I am trying to master business strategy. I am trying to master creating digital produ ..read more

My Review of The Girl in the Mural

I do not read the back cover of books. I always find that they give too much information away. They share pieces of the story that I don’t want to know before I begin reading it. I want the book to take me on a journey. A journey that is hopefully unpredictable and keeps me wanting to read much later into the night than I should. How do I pick a book? I will typically pick a book by the title or by the cover. It has to intrigue me and catch my attention. I have a Pinterest board that is filled with books that I want to read. When I read one from that board, I move it to the Pinterest board tha ..read more

Starting Your Mental Health Blog

I didn’t start a blog to talk about blogging. That was the furthest thing from my mind. I started my blog to survive. I needed a way to release ALL of the hate that I was feeling inside. From the outside, I had a great life. I was married to a man who loved me. I had 2 beautiful children. We had just moved to a new province. Everything from the outside appeared to be normal. Appeared to be what I wanted. BUT inside those walls, was a whole different story. My husband and I fought. There were moments when I didn’t think we would make it. I hated who I was. I thought that I was ugly. Every morni ..read more

I talk about blogging a lot. I love it! It is something that I think every person should be doing. Whether for personal reasons or business reasons, blogging is a great way to communicate online. If you are new here, a little bit about my blogging story. I started blogging in 2014 as a way to share my story of sexual assault. (I lost all my previous blog posts in 2019 so I can’t show you.) My sister-in-law told me that since I loved to write, blogging would be a great way for me to get out there. She even went as far as telling me that no one would read it. That may seem harsh but it was exact ..read more

As my small business program through Momentum starts to wind down, we had a chance to chat as a group yesterday with questions that we had and other things that we wanted to share. I seriously can’t believe that next week is the last week that I am meeting with these amazing humans. 6 months flew by in the blink of an eye. As we were chatting about goals and random questions that we all came up with, one of the participants that I have really connected with asked such a great question. How do you authentically share your business with new people? This is such a great question because there are ..read more

It is that time of year already. Time to start thinking about what to buy your family and friends for the Christmas season. I love Christmas time. I remember growing up, my parents always made sure that we were made to feel special. We did our Christmas celebrations a bit differently from most families. We would spend Christmas Eve with my mom’s side of the family. My grandma always made this hot beef and we would eat sandwiches and homemade chocolates and everything in between. We would open our gifts, making sure to go one person at a time so that everyone could see what everyone else got. W ..read more

Cloth diaper business. Life coaching business. Subscription box business. Freelancing business. Blog coaching business. Throughout the years, I have tried multiple small business ideas. I love being creative and letting my creativity run wild. I am a big believer in going with the flow. When I get an idea, I go with it. I am not the best at business planning because I consider myself to be a creative brain. The cloth diaper business came well before I started blogging. That was back in 2011 when I had a newborn and thought that starting a cloth diaper service would be a great idea for the area ..read more

Every time I get ready to talk about blogging, my heart does little flutters. I get butterflies in my belly knowing that I am going to help a woman step into who she is and start that blog that she has been thinking of. I go back to February 2020, to the day that I first pulled into my friend’s driveway to help her build her blog. I feel giddy with excitement as I remember pulling out our computers and starting the work. Working side by side with open computers, showing her how to set up her website, choose her niche and narrow down her colours. The give and take that went on for 16 hours to g ..read more
