Youth Success - Part 2

All parents want the best for their children. When we make sacrifices to give them a good life, we expect them to represent their families well. They should work hard, stay focused and when they do that, achieve and bring some joyful moments, we parents are pleased. The impression is that they are good children who are already contributing to society. As a parent, I have huge influence on my children's lives - from how they grow up to how they view their education, even how they conduct themselves indoors and outdoors etc. I am aware that my children watch what I do more than what I say. I am ..read more

The success of our youth
Josie Lifestyle

The success of our youth starts with their upbringing, wanting them to achieve and being the best they can be. Their mindsets should be transformed from "I cannot" to "I can" in actual fact, one of my daughter's favourite bible verses is Philippians 4:13 - I can do ALL things through Christ! I have seen her live by this belief which has given her confidence to thrive. The past fifteen months have shown resilience in our youth as they all had to adjust to the new way of living and studying during the pandemic! I saw how my children shifted their focus from the classroom "in person" to having sc ..read more

So, Freedom Day has finally arrived!
Josie Lifestyle

Monday 19th July was declared "Freedom Day" in England Some people were delighted that things were getting back to normal and they are getting their livelihood to how it used to be. However, others were not too sure with the easing down of lockdown and ceasing the wearing of face mask. With cases of new infection on the rise, it's no wonder some people are still skeptical. This got me thinking if I needed a "post lockdown check-up"! Firstly, I feel my eyes have become weaker since working from home. The constant staring at the lap top screen and various video calls, sometimes, back to back, h ..read more

What would you tell your younger self?
Josie Lifestyle

While I was recently de-cluttering our home, I found an old photograph of me and the first thought that ran through my mind was how carefree I was! I started to think through life's events and how my reaction then would differ to it now. Experience is a beautiful thing, in fact the saying goes that "experience is the best teacher" this is so true! Once you have been through something drastic in your life, nobody will tell you how it made you feel or what lessons it taught you. It is an advantage that I was not notified of life's trials and headache, ahead of time, even amidst some victory and ..read more

Life Lessons - Adages!
Josie Lifestyle

An adage is a wise saying with an important fact of experience, that is taken as true by many people. Some would argue that adages come from how people behave and because the same pattern has been repeated for a very long time, they are believed to be true. There are several common adages such as: better safe than sorry, better late than never, you reap what you sow, you need to look before you jump, do not judge a book by its cover, no man is an island, opposite attract, early to bed, early to rise! Be careful what you wish for because you might get them. One of my all time favourite is that ..read more

Making an impact!

When I think of impact, so many words come to mind such as consequence, repercussion, ramification and so on. Making an impact is when something or someone has or had an influence in your life. Having lost my parents in their 70s and recently lost my father-in-law who sadly passed away at the age of 99 years old, impact has been on my mind lately. For me, the best type of impact is when it positively improves people's lives. I had the privilege of having some role models in my life that have made an impact, either through their peaceful way of living (such as my husband and my father-in-law) t ..read more

Happy International Women’s Day (IWD)!

Today, the 8th of March 2021 marks the International Women's Day! I feel like this day is important to celebrate because it helps to reduce gender bias as it focuses on the achievements of women, whether it is a political win, social, economic or cultural. The celebration will help drive a positive change for women across the world. The idea to make the day international came from Clara Zetkin, who suggested the idea at the International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen in 1910. The first National Woman’s Day was celebrated across the United States on February 28 1909 so we have come ..read more

Do you feel stuck, unfulfilled in life? Do you know what your purpose or calling is? what is, the reason for living on this planet? Are you on Mute?
Josie Lifestyle

"You are on mute" is the common words used during the season we are in - "the pandemic." The new way of working has brought its own challenges, technological issues we never envisaged but we have to rise above them. The Zoom calls and Microsoft teams have been in full swing and I do not know what we would have done without them - thanks to their CEOs, the brains behind the invention. Being on mute, means your voice cannot be heard (by the audience), you are silent for a particular reason and cannot speak out. I would like to take this to another dimension - self development. Rather than being ..read more

New Year, New Vision!

A new year brings on new opportunity to start over and to push yourself harder with the big plan you always had. A time to appreciate life the best way you can - even during a pandemic! Life is full of ups and down, there will always be something that challenge us. The last year was strange and emotional for many as we all had to adjust to the "new normal" way of living. During the crisis, I somehow found strength from my faith, I prayed, sang love songs and gospel, praised and shared some positive energy to my friends and loved ones. I reached out to others including my neighbours. Although t ..read more
