Lansing, MI – The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Director has signed a ‘Determination of Extraordinary Emergency, HPAI Risk Reduction Response Order.’ This is aimed at protecting Michigan’s poultry and livestock industries from the ongoing threat of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza…commonly referred to as HPAI. Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian Utilities Department will begin flushing hydrants throughout the City this weekend. They say that the process should take about 3 weeks to complete. Most of the flushing will occur between the hours of 11p.m. until 7 a.m. to minimize any inconvenience to Adrian water customers. More than 16,000 pounds of ground beef sold at Walmart stores nationwide were recalled due to potential E. coli contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall on Wednesday; according to the release, approximately 16,342 pounds of six different types of raw ground beef products sold by Cargill Meat Solutions were recalled. Peloton announced on Thursday that CEO Barry McCarthy will be stepping down as the company, and that it is also cutting 15% of its staff worldwide (or about 400 employees).  Karen Boone and Chis Bruzzo, Peloton’s current board chair and director, respectively, will temporarily handle the CEO duties until a new leader is chosen. Adrian, MI – The preliminary examination got underway in Lenawee County District Court Wednesday for Dale Warner…who is charged with killing his wife, Dee. A preliminary exam is a proceeding after a criminal complaint has been filed, to determine whether there is enough evidence to go to trial.
