Columbia residents have only been using trash roll carts since early March but several thousand of them are already turning in their original carts. Thursday’s storms take out power

Last night’s storms knocked out power all across Mid – Missouri. Outages were reported in Moniteau, Pettis, Miller, Morgan, Cooper and other counties. Saline County had the worst of it. Nearly 1000 – customers were without power for a time. High winds blew tree limbs onto powerlines. More weather is on the way. Chuck Basye says he’s leaving State Senate race

Rocheport Republican Chuck Basye said this morning he is withdrawing from the campaign for state senator from Boone County because of a recent cancer diagnosis. Basye entered the race at the filing deadline late last month against Democrat Stephen Webber. The seat is currently held by Republican Caleb Rowden of Columbia, who is term-limited. Basye, who will turn 66 in June, said his prostate cancer was caught early and is treatable. Court case against former Callaway Sheriff ends

A court case is over after former Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism turns in a letter of resignation. Chism’s peace officer’s license was revoked after his off -duty drunk driving arrest in Moberly, but he stayed on the county payroll. The Callaway County Prosecutor has now filed a motion to dismiss the case. Two hurt in JCMO car – school bus accident

Two people are hurt after a car ran into a school bus in Jefferson City. The car driver, McCaila Wright of Jefferson City, turned on Dix Road from Industrial Drive. Police say she then lost control and hit the bus in the intersection. Wright and her passenger only suffered minor injuries. The bus driver and four students on the bus were unhurt ..read more

A couple of Missouri elected officials tangled at Lincoln Days in Perryville. A video shows some expletives being exchanged between Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft and Senator Denny Hoskins. Senator Bill Eigel was nearby. Another CoMo homeless camp will be torn down today

Columbia Parks and Recreation will take out another homeless camp at Broadway and Old 63 today. MoDOT cleaned up a homeless camp in March along I-70 near the Providence Rd. intersection. The city also had to clear out one camp near the area twice within the past year.
