This very topic is one i find really fascinating in both medicine and nutrition! As i’m not a Dr i’ll not be talking about these in the medicinal sense only nutritional, but i will mark those that do serve medicinal purposes with an ” * ” and you can do your own independent research off the back of it. May UK owners “weed” their garden, unknowingly destroying and removing beneficial plants and roots of but i’m hoping this may make them think twice! Here is a list of common “Weeds” that have a nutritional benefit to humans and dogs! Dandelions*- Leaves/Flower/Root* (Properties: Vitamins: A, C ..read more

The Dangers of Human Medications administered to Dogs without Vet Approval

You’d this this would be self explanatory/common sense but unfortunately it’s not for many, I’m forever seeing people recommending human over the counter medications for their dogs or ointments such as Piriton/Benadryl and Sudocrem when it comes to “Aiding” presumed environmental allergy symptoms. The above mentioned medications are common among many humans but that doesn’t mean it’s automatically safe for your dog, the recommended doses are based on humans, not canids. The confusion lies between conventional Vets recommending such things for the individual dog in THEIR care under THEIR practi ..read more

The ever so empowering Lotus Flower The Chakra System The chakra system is a complex network of seven spinning, energy vortexes which run throughout the entire body. Universal energy flows in and out of the chakras, along the meridian system, into the aura and then finally into the physical body. Every human and animal has them. There is no exception when it comes to the canine.   The energy flows in two ways; inward and outward. Therefore, every thought, action and emotion affects the chakras and is mirrored into the aura. Likewise, external stimuli, both positive and negative, have ..read more

from Dr Lise Hansen DVM MRCVS published by Hubble and Hattie First of all i must confess, i was a little sceptical about this book as i do find a lot of Vets are very Conventional in their approach which doesn’t gel with my Holistic Methods, my initial thoughts were “Oh here we go, another one” However,  I can confidently say i’m not eating humble pie because this book knocked my socks off! I’m wholeheartedly impressed by this book. I’d heard of Lise from various others across my own research into Canine Health but I didn’t realise she’s actually a Homeopath when it comes to her Veterinar ..read more

My answer to this 4 years ago would of been, Hell Yes!! Qualifications baby!! This opinion grew when i was doing my diploma too of course, then my advanced in experience “Peers” started to slam courses to which i argued with at the time (As i had a natural bias and blinded by something, I’ve not seen until NOW) So yes Miss Rutherford, if you’re reading this, i am gracefully eating humble pie!! (P.s thanks for reaching out mid lockdown to see if i was OK) Now my mindset has changed, as there are many course popping up now via sponsored ads on social media from various providers, some basic cert ..read more

I make no joke about this topic, this topic usually offends so many dog owners because they don’t believe there dog is obese or overweight, but sometimes the truth hurts but ignoring the fact can have a detrimental income long term, now according to the Pet Food Manufacturers Association in their 2019 Obesity Report, when they compiled a survey amongst Veterinary Practices, it came to light that 51% of dogs were documented to be overweight/obese. Shockingly high right? That means if your walking your dog down the street and you see someone else walking their dog, either your or theirs will be ..read more

Many people in the fresh food word, myself included use the word “Longevity” a lot but what does it mean? In simple terms it means how how long? So when we use this word and refer it to dogs, we simply mean their life span! How long will they live? Now the oldest dog on record for an Australian Cattle dog called Bluey, which was put to sleep in 1939 at the grand age of 29 years and 5 months! There was a Beagle named Butch who came in at a close second at the age of 28 and then in 3rd place was a Border Collie named Bramble who lived until 27, now Bramble is even more unique as he was allegedly ..read more

Pre-Made Raw Meals- 80/10/10 Doesn’t mean Complete!

Finally some brands are awakening to real Canine Nutrition, getting away from the common 80/10/10 ratio meals, which is amazing as no body knows where this golden ratio came from but it’s not always ideal for every dog and life stage and must be tweaked, so it’s causing allot of confusion from consumers when the likes of Trading Standards/DEFRA make manufacturers label such meals as “Complete” as they aren’t typically, there are some that are but they have been created by specialists and nutritionally adeqate for daily consumption either using a blend of whole foods or adding in a syntetic pre ..read more
