CEDAR CITY — It’s official: Cedar High School’s moniker will remain the Reds.

At its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night, the Iron County School District Board of Education voted 4-3 to retain the Reds name, which had five years ago replaced “Redmen,” the school’s longtime nickname and mascot.

CEDAR CITY — An early morning rollover caused minor delays on Interstate 15 in Iron County on Thursday morning.

Two occupants in the vehicle walked away from the wreckage, while one patient was transported to the hospital after the single-vehicle incident.

WASHINGTON — Both vehicles were badly damaged but the drivers sustained only minor injuries after a T-bone collision Wednesday night.
Washington City Police Lt. Kory Klotz told St. George News that a Dodge Caravan traveling westbound on Treasure Valley Road was T-boned by a Kia passenger car after the driver of the Caravan failed to stop at the stop sign.
“Obviously the stop sign is there, just didn’t see it with the sun probably, came through the intersection, failure to stop,” Klotz said, adding that the Kia was traveling northbound on 20 East.

ST. GEORGE — Utah’s spring general-season turkey hunts are about to get underway, and the Utah Department of Wildlife Resources issued a news release to help guide hunters this spring.
Utah’s youth turkey hunt runs from Friday through Sunday, April 26-28, and the spring general-season turkey hunt runs from Monday, April 29, to May 31. Youth can continue hunting during the general-season hunt if they don’t harvest during the youth hunt. The limited-entry hunt began April 13 and ends Thursday, April 25.

One simple photo posted on Instagram was all it took for a St. George entrepreneur to transform a hair extension technique into a business empire. McKenzie Turley now trains hairstylists worldwide, bringing them and their tax dollars to Southern Utah.
