WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - On Saturday, one man died after being shot by his fishing partner in Vernon. Around 2:40 p.m., Washington County officials received a 911 call about an altercation at the Diamond Head Fish Camp on Moss Hill Road in Vernon. Authorities said the caller stated the altercation was between her husband and another individual. According to a news release, all parties were at the dock when deputies arrived. PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – People were breaking a sweat at the beach all to help save the turtles. Gulf World Marine Institute had its 3rd annual Making Turtle Tracks 5K fundraiser. Bright and early over a hundred people strapped on their running shoes and either walked or ran on the beach. JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - On Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to a fatal crash in Marianna. The incident happened around 8:00 a.m. on Rocky Creek Road near Delta Lane in Jackson County. The driver involved was a 37-year-old man from Lynn Haven and the passenger was a 41-year-old female from Marianna, FHP officials said. At about 7:00 a.m., deputies responded to a residence on Salem Drive in the Sunny Hills community. DESTIN, Fla. (WMBB) β€” A popular seafood restaurant, Tailfins, is currently on fire. The fire started just before its scheduled opening around 10:50 AM. Emergency services rushed to the scene as flames engulfed the establishment, prompting a swift and coordinated response from 8 agencies including Destin, Fort Walton, Okaloosa, Ocean City, and North Bay. A military honor guard placed the former Governor and U.S. senator's body in the Old State Capital building on Friday morning. His body had laid in state for several hours.
