PANAMA CITY, FL. (WMBB) - A food drive will be coming to the Panhandle this Saturday to help with natural disaster situations. The Letter Carriers' Food Drive is a national event that began back in 1933. Residents are to put some non-perishable unopened food or canned goods out at their mailbox on Saturday morning. Local mail carriers or food drive volunteers will pick up any goods. OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - The Okaloosa County Department of Corrections staff are warning the families of inmates about bond scams. Authorities said they have encountered multiple recent instances of individuals falsely posing as bail bondsmen to families of inmates housed within the jail. These false individuals contact family members of inmates and claim to be able to bond inmates out of jail if given payment of a gift card or virtual payments such as Cash App or Venmo, according to a news release. (WMBB) - The Washington County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing man. 29-year-old Kyle Brandon Slay was last seen wearing a bright orange shirt, camo pants, and brown boots. Update: The driver of the Pepsi van is a 47-year-old man from Bristol, FL, and the driver of the truck is a 26-year-old man from Dothan, AL, who sustained minor injuries, according to a news release. The course will combine a 1.2-mile saltwater swim in the Gulf, a 56-mile bike ride through the Florida Pines, and a spectator-filled 13.1-mile run along the coast. Front Beach Road and the Middle Beach Road merge will be blocked off on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 12:30 pm, as well as in various other locations. PANAMA CITY, FL. (WMBB) - A Panama City man was arrested facing child sex charges. According to the Bay County Sheriff's Office, the suspect is 41-year-old, James Mixon, who is accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl multiple times. The incident took place at his home in the 4000th block of Deerfield Road. BLOUNTSTOWN, Fla. (WMBB) – The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement’s signature event of the year, the “Everlasting Stitches” Quilt Show, is returning on Saturday, May 11th to the settlement in Blountstown. BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) - A car accident has been reported in the area of US 231 and Cherokee Heights. Traffic appears to be backed up along US 231, police and EMS are on the scene.
