Outrageous snacks, dining discounts and foodie events await visitors to the LA County, opening Friday, May 3 at the Fairplex in Pomona. The fair has been drawing Southern California to its fairgrounds in Pomona since 1922, but this is the third year that the fair has been held in the spring instead of the fall. It will run from Cinco de Mayo weekend through Memorial Day on Monday, May 27. A woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Pomona on Monday evening, April 22, marking the second hit-and-run pedestrian death in the area in two days. Police were called around 8:43 p.m. Monday and found the victim on the roadway of North Towne Avenue, near East Monterey Avenue. The woman, whose identity had not been released, was hospitalized and later died, Pomona police said.
