Pomona’s Pilgrim Congregational Church, 600 N. Garey Ave., will hold its twice-yearly rummage sale 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 20. The sale, spread out in rooms and patios throughout the grounds, will offer gently used clothing, pots and pans, furniture, antiques, garden plants and other household goods. There will also be hundreds of hardcover and paperback books available and many CDs. A new addition to this spring’s sale will be several hundred new pairs of casual shoes, according to a news release. The Cesar Chavez & Dolores Huerta Pilgrimage, an annual multicultural event organized by Pomona Valley community organizations with the support of the Latino and Latina Roundtable, will be held 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20. The Costanoan Rumsen Ohlone Tribe will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its Great Gathering Pow Wow with music, storytelling and community. The event will take place Friday, April 26, through Sunday, April 28, beginning with a California tribe-focused ceremony Friday at 6 p.m. that will feature Chumash singers and members of the Tongva tribe. A family-focused guaranteed income program first proposed in Pomona three years ago will launch this summer, city officials announced. Flourishing Families, an 18-month pilot project, is funded by $4.5 million in federal coronavirus aid the city received in 2021. The program will tentatively begin in July. It’s baby season at Cal Poly Pomona where two new foals have arrived and one more is expected to come later this month. This spring, three Arabian foals will be born at the W.K Kellogg Arabian Horse Center, continuing the 99-year legacy of breeding Arabian horses in Pomona, according to a news release from the college.
