ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) — The Abilene Independent School District has officially appointed Dr. John Kuhn as its new superintendent.
Kuhn has 27 years of experience in the public school system and has previously managed the role of superintendent, with his last standing at Mineral Wells ISD. His appointment to AISD will be the third school in which Kuhn has held this position, and he boasts of holding a more active role with students and school events.

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - At the April meeting of the Abilene Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the board was given a rundown of current and future city street construction projects and a brief report on the status of the progress made on each project.
On South 14th Street between Barrow Street and Pioneer Drive, crews are working to install a sidewalk along the westbound lane. That project is now 22% complete and fully funded by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene mother accused of biting, scratching, and abusing her 14-month child, causing bruising and head trauma, has been arrested.
Cameron Poulton was taken into custody on a warrant for Injury to a Child Wednesday in connection to an incident in October 2023.
Court documents state an Abilene day care contacted police after a 14-month-old child showed up with several injuries, such as bruising in multiple locations, including her head, face and neck, bite marks, scratches, and two knots on the top of her head.

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene woman was shot 'multiple times' by her ex-boyfriend early Wednesday morning.
The shooting happened at an apartment complex on the 3000 block of West Lake Road around 1:30 a.m.
Police say suspect Gregory Haywood, 56, shot his "previous intimate partner" multiple times then fled the scene.
The victim has been hospitalized, where she continues to receive treatment for multiple gunshot injuries.
