Hundreds of Muskegon High School students got a powerful message Monday morning. A group of eight law enforcement officials, eight school staffers and eight individuals with criminal pasts came together for a friendly game of basketball. The event is meant to highlight the importance of making good choices throughout life. Muskegon Public Schools receives $2M grant toward new career program

Muskegon Public Schools (MPS) announced it is the recipient of a $2 million grant for a career program at the new Charles Hackley Middle School. Were told the grant, secured by Sen. Gary Peters, will support the school districts collaboration with Ford Next Generation Learning (NGL) in offering 6 th 10 th graders a chance to explore career possibilities. Motorcyclist critical after crash with vehicle in Muskegon

A motorcyclist was hospitalized with critical injuries sustained in a Muskegon crash with a vehicle Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened before 5:20 p.m. near Getty Street and Catherine Avenue, according to the Muskegon Police Department (MPD). Were told officers found a 25-year-old man from Muskegon severely injured upon arrival. He has since been taken to a nearby hospital. Big changes are coming to the Muskegon County Airport. Driven by the need to replace the terminal building's original 1994 roof, other changes are on their way. It is all part of a $2.9 million grant-funded project aimed at bringing a facelift to the airport. US-31 closed after serious crash in Muskegon Co.

Northbound US-31 is closed near Russell Road in Muskegon County after a serious crash, according to Michigan State Police. Investigators say a passenger van carrying six people hit a pickup truck while trying to change lanes. The van then went off the road and rolled several times. The woman driving was thrown out of the van when this happened. She was taken to the hospital in serious condition, while a teenage passenger had to be air-lifted from the scene. Seven years after losing her daughter, a Holton mother is finding some healing by helping others. Debra Wyant's daughter, Shayna Sturtevant was an organ donor.
