Colorado has the second-lowest gas prices in the country — for now. The statewide average price is $3.16 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas, 51 cents below the national average.
The statewide average is down from $3.58 per gallon at the same time in 2023 and up about 10 cents on the month, AAA Colorado said Thursday.
“Coloradans should make the most of comparatively low prices while they can,” Skyler McKinley, regional spokesman for AAA, said in a statement.
McKinley said expectations of an upcoming robust summer travel season coupled with the federally mandated switchover to reformulated ga ..read more

Politicians and news outlets expressed outrage Monday over the expulsion from a Republican gathering of an experienced politics reporter who was told the state party chairman believed her reporting was “very unfair.”
Journalists and elected officials, including the former chair of the Colorado Republican Party, came to the defense of Colorado Sun reporter Sandra Fish. The controversy appears to have even helped determine an endorsement Monday in the Republican primary race.
The state Republican Party announced on the social media platform X that it was endorsing U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert over o ..read more

The commission, which sets the rules and regulations for polluters, would increase to 11 seats from nine if the bill passes. The two additional seats would be filled by a climate scientist and a person representing a disproportionately impacted community, which typically are heavily polluted neighborhoods with a majority of resid ..read more

When Stephen Varela became president in 2016 of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 2430 in southern Colorado, former union officers say one of the first things he did was ask the bank for a debit card for the union’s account.

That way there can be oversight of union money and how it’s spent. Debit cards are not normally allowed.
