The opening of Fontana’s Sammy Hagar-associated concert hall has been set for this summer with the former Van Halen frontman playing the first show. Stage Red — a Sammy Hagar Venue will replace the former Center Stage Theater, which closed in August 2022. Hagar, also known as the Red Rocker, grew up in Fontana. The musician and songwriter was inducted to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen in 2007. Originally, the city planned to open the renovated theater in time for Memorial Day 2023. San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus said Wednesday, April 3, that he does not know yet whether the man who was video recorded repeatedly being kneed in the head by a deputy during an arrest in Hesperia was handcuffed at the time. The use of force occurred on March 26 after 36-year-old Christian Cardenas Alonso from Adelanto was pulled over for a traffic stop. A Jurupa Valley street was blocked Wednesday night, March 27, while a hazardous-materials team and police dealt with a methamphetamine lab discovered while a search warrant was being served by Fontana police, officials said. LONG BEACH — A 23-year-old man already serving prison time in an assault case was booked into Long Beach City Jail on Monday on suspicion of a 2023 killing. An Oceanside man was struck and killed by a vehicle during a robbery in Fontana last week, with two men later arrested in Banning, authorities said. Around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 41-year-old Jeremy Ruffin was found severely injured in the parking lot of a Goodwill, at 14405 Baseline Avenue, according to the Fontana Police Department.
