“What and if are two words as non-threatening as words can be, but put them together side by side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life.” Letters To Juliet What if I never amount to anything? This is by far my biggest fear. This thought keeps me up at night. I’m more scared of leaving this world knowing I didn’t make some small difference then I am of snakes. That’s saying a lot, I don’t like snakes. Then I remind myself that its ok if I don’t change the world. At the end of the day I don’t share my story to get my name on billboards across the country. I share it bec ..read more

Tartelette In Bloom
The Realism of Gayle

Tarte's Tartlette In Bloom eyeshadow pallet is the only eyeshadow pallet I own. I don't wear eyeshadow all the time but when I do it is a natural look. I try to enhance my hazel eyes with pinks and browns. My favorite shadows for an everyday look is jetsetter, sweetheart, and funny girl. If I want a more dramatic look for date night or if I'm feeling a bit more confident that day; I will use firecracker on my lid, sweetheart in the crease, and line my lashes with smokeshow. The quality of these shadows is outstanding. They are easy to blend and last all day. My one and only complaint is I don ..read more

The Road Not Taken
The Realism of Gayle

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be t ..read more

Bare Faced
The Realism of Gayle

Once upon a time I wouldn't leave my home without wearing makeup. I am from a very small town where you will run into someone you know everywhere you look. I was genuinely scared of people seeing what I looked like without makeup. I'm not proud of it but it was something I really struggled with. When I moved away from my hometown it wasn't such a big deal to me because I was now living in a big city and I didn't know very many people. It also made a big difference that I live in Texas where it stays in the 100s during the summer, so the second you step outside your makeup turns into a melted ..read more

Celiac Bag

I want to share my best kept celiac disease hack with y'all. This has saved me on more then one occasion. I keep a small cosmetic bag containing these products in my purse at all times. One of the most inconvenience things that happens with celiac disease is that I have absolutely no control over when I have an episode. Of course I would prefer to have one it happen in my own home but there is no controlling it. Over the years I have discovered some products that help make flare ups a little more manageable. I thought to myself wouldn't it be easier if I had these products with me at all time ..read more

On April 9, 2020 at 8:05 am my husband called me. I was awake but still in bed with my hair a mess and in my pjs. I answered the phone and this was our conversation. "Are you awake?" "Yes." "Are you dressed?" "No, but I can be. What's up?" "I'm finally getting promoted today." "Congratulations babe! I'm so proud of you!" "Thank you. The ceremony starts in 30 minutes." "Wait, what? It takes 20 minutes for me to get there." "I know, if you want to be here to pin me I suggest you hurry." "Ok I'm getting ready now." I hung up the phone and leaped out of the bed. I ran to the bathroom and yanked a ..read more

Dependa
The Realism of Gayle

Dependa: is a horrible insult mainly used by military spouses to put each other down. Every military spouse is a dependent (unless they are active duty), but to be a dependa infers that someone is useless or stupid. (lacking of goals, education, baby making machines) Oh my gosh, there is not a single word in the entire english language that I hate anymore. To me that is the ultimate insult for military spouses. I've only been called this word once and I cried myself to sleep that night. I didn't even know the person it was some random dude on social media. He commented on a photo of my husban ..read more

I'm a Runner
The Realism of Gayle

If you had asked me even just a month ago what words I would use to describe myself a runner would not be on that list. Ok honestly I probably fall under the jogger category more then runner but I'm getting there. People tend to say "New Year New Me" well I say "Quarantine New Me". I started walking around the block of my neighborhood just to get out of the house. My job had closed down due to Covid-19 and I was starting to feel some anxiety being stuck inside my house. So one day I got dressed and walked around my block once. I thought I was going to die. For some reason I kept getting up an ..read more
