(WNCN) -- North Carolina officials say a man convicted of assault with serious bodily injury escaped prison during "a family visitation" Sunday afternoon until he was caught about five hours later and less than a mile away. The escape took place just after 1 p.m. at Rutherford Correctional Center near Spindale in Rutherford County, about 70 miles west of Charlotte, according to a news release from the North Carolina Department of Corrections. ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCN) -- A suspect is wanted after an elderly woman was robbed at a Rocky Mount bank on Friday afternoon, according to police. On Friday shortly before 3:50 p.m., Rocky Mount police responded to a reported robbery at the ATM of a PNC Bank at 1280 Benvenue Road. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 4-year-old child was hurt Sunday night in an accidental shooting, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD). Officers were called to Atrium Health University City on North Tryon Street just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. KENNER, La. (WGNO) —  Three Louisiana police officers were wounded by gunfire Sunday in a standoff with a man suspected of shooting three other people in the past week, authorities said. Police responded to a home in Kenner, about 15 miles west of New Orleans, around 9:45 a.m. and found two men had been shot, according to the Kenner Police Department.
