According to the USDA, prices at the grocery store are high and they are expected to continue to rise. The Coastal Bend Food Bank serves over 100 pantries in 11 counties. On Monday, the City of Robstown stepped up to clean the alley on North Fourth Street, right behind the U.S. Post Office, after many complaints from residents. The Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is home to many, including the endangered whooping cranes. "It was a few years after the refuge was first established, they discovered whooping cranes numbers were very low down to 15 birds in 1940, Refuge Manager Joe Saenz said.  With the refuge protecting the flocks of cranes wintering in the area, they now number in the hundreds. The City will close North Shoreline Boulevard just north of Bridgeport Avenue to conduct maintenance activities on a manhole in the roadway beginning Monday, May 6. Work crews will convert a section of Surfside Boulevard between Bridgeport Avenue and North Shoreline Boulevard to two-way traffic for northbound travel. A celebration of life will be held this week for Officer Kyle Hicks. Officer Hicks was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call on April 20 at an apartment complex on the city's south side. Officer Hicks' partner was able to return fire, killing the suspect at the scene. Officer Hicks died on April 24 from his injuries in a local hospital. He leaves behind his wife and four children.
