Even though these will clear briefly, warmer temperatures this afternoon will help to bring another round of storms this afternoon. Temperatures will warm into the low to mid 80s. Afternoon showers and storms will be possible through the rest of the weekend and for the start of the week. This will also help to keep our temperatures cooler in the mid 80s. Racing on the Chattahoochee River for a cause

COLUMBUS, Ga (WRBL) — Whitewater Express in the Chattahoochee Valley is set to host a fundraiser rafting competition on Sunday. On Sunday, May 5 from 2 to 4 p.m., the Great Rafter Race will send groups of six down the Chattahoochee River to compete for the best time. The course begins at the 14th Street bridge and ends at Wave Shaver Island. Winning groups will receive bronze, silver, and gold paddles.  This race does serve as a fundraiser to support Raft Guide and Fly Fishing Instructor Jarrad Moore in his battle with brain cancer. COLUMBUS (WRBL) - The Hardaway Hawks hosted a signing on Thursday, where 13 Hawks put pen to paper to play their sport at the next level. Basketball, Football, Soccer, Track and Field, and Wrestling were all represented in this signing. Three of the Hawks Basketball team will be sticking together as Antonio Dortch, Johnathan Kyles, and Kerry Fudge will be heading to Lake Michigan College. SMITHS STATION, Ala. (WRBL) — Smiths Stations Junior High kicked off its two-day science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) event on May 2. The Junior High School invited 40 local and national STEAM career fields to provide students with interactive opportunities to explore career-based science topics. HAMILTON (WRBL) - The Harris County Tigers are no strangers to students signing onto the next level, and once again the school is honoring student athletes on their signing day. Pierce Profitt and Parker Clark will be attending Central Alabama Community College, where they both will play Baseball. COLUMBUS (WRBL) - The time for signing on to the next level is here, as multiple schools from around the Chattahoochee Valley have begun to host signings for student athletes. For Glenwood, there were three athletes committing to their future alma mater. LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) — The Lee County Board of Education has voted to place freshmen back into the Smith Station High School after five years of research. Smiths Station High School opened over a decade ago, housing 10th through 12th grade students.  In March, the board of education voted to relocate the freshmen students back into the high school.  This decision will take effect during the 2024- 2025 school year.  Currently, freshmen attend the Smiths Station Junior High and Freshman Center, which served as a high school in the past. This was a behind the scenes tour observing and asking great questions about the news industry. Columbus, Ga (WRBL)- Tracking a weak system that has brought a few showers and even some thunderstorms for our Tuesday. Rain chances are already starting to die down as these showers fizzle out over the next few hours. Overnight, areas of patchy fog will begin to develop, some of which could be dense.
