ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Two men were convicted of the second-degree murder of Kelly Guidry in 2021. After seven days of trial, Marcus Chenier, 27, of Opelousas, and Jevon Figaro, 26, of Lafayette, were convicted of murdering Kelly Guidry in the second-degree. On Jan. 23, 2021, Chenier and Figaro ambushed Guidry on North Market Street in Opelousas, each wielding semi-automatic weapons, according to authorities. BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A bill that would prohibit the use of any form of a cellular device while driving on public roads has passed the Senate. According to SB98, using a cell phone while driving on any roadway in Louisiana would become illegal. Any person who violates the law would be charged $25 for all fines collected for the first violation and $50 for all other violations after that.
