The Florida Commission on Ethics has dismissed a complaint filed against St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson. The complaint was related to his involvement, according to investigators, in a so-called ghost election campaign in 2020. Kenny Nail, the chair for the St. Lucie County Republican Party, filed the complaint in late January about two months after Pearson was appointed sheriff by Gov. Ron Desantis. A survey released by the city of Port St. Lucie found the majority of residents opposed the idea of paying an estimated $131 per year to increase trash pickup to twice a week. The results found that 86% of residents voted no. "My general preference is not, only because there's only two of us. A 70-year-old man was arrested after a man was stabbed Wednesday night in Fort Pierce, police said. The incident occurred at about 11:19 p.m. in the 200 block of North U.S. Highway 1.
