FAUQUIER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A pilot is dead after a single-engine plane crashed in Fauquier County during the evening on Sunday.
State Police responded to a reported plane crash near the intersection of Midland Road and Ebenezer Church Road in Fauquier County, which occurred at 3:54 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3.
Authorities said the preliminary investigation revealed that a single-engine plane was attempting to land when it hit several trees, which caused it to crash into a field and catch fired.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Residents in the Libbie Mill Midtown area of Henrico County are now calling for transparency after they say they have not received mail from the United States Postal Service (USPS) for more than 10 days.
Resident George Hardy reached out to 8News about the ongoing problem and sat down with news crews to discuss more on the matter.
"The excuses of COVID and things like that are are well behind us," Hardy said. "We can't use that anymore. We need to adapt and change."

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WAVY) -- After a whirlwind few weeks, James Madison University (JMU) fans have finally learned who, where and when their Dukes will play their first ever bowl game.
The No. 24 Dukes (11-1) will play Air Force (8-4) on Saturday, December 23 in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas.

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney's Office has canceled the 'postal town hall' meeting -- meant address the recent increase of mail thefts and fraud in the city -- which was scheduled for Tuesday.

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Police Department is investigating after a man was shot on West Broad Street during the evening on Saturday.
A spokesperson from Richmond Police said officers responded to the 3600 block of West Broad Street near the West Broad Apartments around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Once on scene, officers found a man with a gunshot wound.
The man was taken to the hospital. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
The man has not yet been identified, and no information was released about a suspect.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A teen is recovering after they were shot in the Bellwood area of Chesterfield County during the evening on Friday.
In the aftermath, neighbors are on edge and are calling for an end to the violence.
A spokesperson for the Chesterfield County Police Department said officers received a report of a person shot on the 2700 block of Avalon Heights Road on Friday, Dec. 1 just before 7 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound. The teen was transported to the hospital and police confirm they are now listed in stable condition.
