The United States Department of the Treasury announced Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will visit Mesa Community College on Saturday, May 4 to tour automation and engineering labs. Yellen will be joined by Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and Mesa Mayor John Giles. Thunderbird baseball team makes playoffs for first time since 2019

The Mesa Community College baseball team finished their regular season with a 5-1 win on Saturday against Scottsdale Community College, clinching the number one seed and home field advantage for the regional playoffs. The Thunderbirds finish the regular season with a 35-20 overall record, going 20-18 in conference. MCC also finished with a 28-9 record at home, an important factor heading into the postseason. The first lady of the United States Jill Biden was announced on Tuesday as a special guest speaker at Mesa Community College’s 2023-2024 graduation ceremony on May 11, 2024. The event will be held at Arizona State University’s Desert Financial Arena with the ceremony starting at 9 a.m. and doors opening at 8 a.m. Biden has previously visited the college in February 2024 where she highlighted affordable community college programs like Mesa College Promise. Mesa Community College hosted the Future of Fashion event on April 25 that showcased over 100 original designs by MCC Fashion Program students. Mesa Community College president Tammy Robinson, still on a formal leave of absence since Jan. 2024, was announced on April 19 through social media as a finalist for the president position at Roxbury Community College outside Boston, Massachusetts. The Mesa Community College softball team defeated South Mountain Community College on Saturday and Paradise Valley Community College on Tuesday, earning their first conference wins since February.
