Dalton, GA-(WDEF-TV) The Christian Heritage soccer team lost to Georgia Military College Prep 4-2 in the state semifinals on Friday. The Lions took an early 1-0 lead in the match, and then they saw GMC Prep score literally as the horn sounded to end the half to tie the match at one . The Meigs County softball team has won a lot this season, so of course, they’re having a good time. Sounds like a story for fun-lovin News 12 reporter Brian Armstrong. Annual Boat Day at Boyd Buchanan School

Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) — Boyd Buchanan School held its 27th annual physics boat day on Friday. Students were only allowed to use cardboard and duct tape to complete their boat. Students had a fun time creating their boats and feeling a sigh of relief that their boats made it across the water in one piece. “I’m excited just to win and so happy and relieved that I got to stop paddling because my arms were dead, so happy that all those hours paid off, ” said student Emery Gravitt. 5 Charged with drug smuggling conspiracy at Hamilton County Jail

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County authorities said they recently busted a drug smuggling conspiracy at the Hamilton County Jail. Detectives arrested five people in the case. The sheriff’s office said the suspects intentionally bonded a man out of jail with the intent of having him rearrested. They said once he was rearrested, he smuggled contraband into the jail. However, corrections security personnel found the contraband. The Tennessee aquarium conservation institute released the juvenile lake sturgeons under the market street bridge. Highway 58 firefighter dies in motorcycle crash on Birchwood Pike

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A firefighter died in a motorcycle crash on Birchwood Pike in Harrison on Wednesday. The Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department gave the tragic news on Friday morning. They identified the victim as firefighter Tris Lirette. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened May 1 around 6 p.m. Upon arrival, first responders attempted life-saving measures on the motorcyclist. Chattanooga now has a Swiftwater Rescue Team

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Fire Department announced on Friday it has a new Swiftwater Rescue Team. The team is made up of 26 firefighters who learned new skills to make rescues in certain water scenarios. These firefighters have new gear and five new boats. CFD said they recently spent several days training on the Hiwassee River. They learned several skills, such as flipping a capsized boat and swimming in a swift current.
