EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- Hundreds of unique plants were for sale at Mesker Park Zoo in Evansville over the weekend.
The Bloomin' Zoo Plant Sale and Arts Festival also featured more than 30 local art vendors.
"We offer a variety of unique things that you don't always find at the local nurseries," said Botanical Curator Misty Minar.
The zoo's botanics department has been busy growing the plants that were available to buy.

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- The Evansville African American Museum collected thousands of eclipse glasses after last month's total solar eclipse over the Tri-State. Now volunteers are needed to help sort through them.
Astronomers Without Borders will give out the glasses to reuse around the world during future eclipses.
We're told the cardboard from any damaged glasses will be recycled.

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - The parents of the one-year-old that fell into a backyard swimming pool on Evansville's west side has an update regarding the status of their child.
Parents China and Alex shared the update of their baby Ayko with Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson. They said Ayko is making positive progress and won't stop fighting until he is back home.
"Ayko is making positive progress," they said. "He is a very strong baby, and we know he isn't gonna stop fighting until he is back home with us. Please keep praying for our boy, he needs all the strength he can get."

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - The University of Evansville bestowed 505 degrees upon 488 graduates during the 166th commencement ceremony on May 4.

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - The Union County Emergency Management said no injuries were reported after fire crews responded to a fully involved structure fire.
Officials state the fire happened in Whispering Meadows where Whispering Meadows, Union County and Waverly Fire Departments responded at 3:40 a.m. Sunday morning.

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - Oakland City University celebrated the graduation of 201 students on Saturday, May 4 on the Oakland City, Indiana campus.
University officials state the ceremony was a full house, attended by family members, guests and Board of Trustees. OCU President Dr. Ron Dempsey extended his congratulations to the graduates in his address.
Officials state six students were honored with the President's Award.

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- Ellis Park was no exception to the Kentucky Derby festivities on Saturday. Sources tell Eyewitness News 5,000 people visited the track to share some part in the most exciting two minutes in sports. For the 150th race, Eyewitness News asked what traditions Ellis Park is celebrating.
On Saturday evening, dozens of fans watched closely as they watched Mystik Dan's photo finish in the 150th derby.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- Special Olympics athletes went for gold at Evansville North High School.
About 200 athletes across five counties competed in the Area 10 games on Saturday.
Competitions included track, javelin throw, shot put and long jump.
These events are qualifiers for the summer games in Terre Haute next month.
"We have been involved for a lot of years, and we just love doing it for the athletes. That's why we're here. And they're so appreciative and they put forth such great effort," said Connie King, Area 10 director.
