Smiley and the Providence Department of Inspection and Standards (DIS), together with the Providence Revolving Fund (PRF), today announced a new City program that helps income-eligible homeowners who have incurred multiple housing code violations make essential repairs to their homes at no cost. The City of Providence will be repairing road covers critical for the operation of the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier vehicle gates. These covers house brace footings located in concrete chambers beneath the street. During a storm event, the brace footings hold the gates in a closed position.
The project will address road covers on Allens Avenue, Bridge Street, and South Main Street.
