FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a shooting on the city's southeast side, Thursday night. Dispatch confirmed with WANE 15, that FWPD is investigating a shooting at 3029 Bowser Avenue, just a half mile east of Weisser Park. Initial calls for the shooting came in just before 9:30 p.m. An officer at the scene confirmed with WANE 15 that the victim was a man. Thursday, the first of the trio saw his fate decided in Allen Superior Court and will likely go to prison. A jury in Allen Superior Court found Rashun Carter, now 33, was found guilty of murder, a Level 1 felony, and criminal recklessness, a Level 6 felony, on Thursday after a four-day trial. On Wednesday's Special School Board meeting, the Lafayette School Corporation approved Vinton Elementary School to move to four school days a week instead of the traditional five. FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo had to say goodbye to Bahati the African lion on Thursday. The male lion, whom visitors have adored since 2016, died shortly after a cancer diagnosis, the zoo said in a press release. Bahati was diagnosed with thymic cancer last week, following a relatively short period of inappetence. Due to his rapid decline despite palliative care, he was humanely euthanized, surrounded by his care team.
