GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A body was recovered from the water near Sandy Island on Sunday afternoon, authorities said. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said authorities responded to reports of a body in a river about 3:45 p.m. Crews were assisted by Midway Fire Rescue, the state Department of Natural Resources and Georgetown County Coroner's Office. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further details will be announced when they become available. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Marion man accused in the March 15 killing of New Mexico State Police officer Justin Hare will go to trial this summer, according to federal court records. (WBTW) -- A national school safety group launched in the aftermath of a deadly 2022 shooting is recruiting volunteers to patrol the Carolina Forest area following a string of bomb threats over the past week. LATTA, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Latta restaurant has burglarized twice this month, with thieves swiping money, food items and even a Christmas tree, authorities say. Dillon County deputies first responded to a call at A&B Country Kitchen on April 13, finding that it had been broken into through a front glass window. (WBTW) -- A six-month-old was shot but faces non life-threatening injuries following a Friday afternoon incident that left a person dead, the Robeson County Sheriiff's Office said. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- A tornado outbreak in the Great Plains yesterday will go down in history. As of 7 a.m., there were more than 70 tornado reports from yesterday's system. The most violent tornado appears to have occurred near Bennington, Nebraska where the damage is devastating.
