Sunshine returns today as temperatures continue to warm. Today will be a warmer day with highs in the 70s to near 80 degrees. We will see lots of sunshine with clouds building in the late afternoon, ahead of a cold front. A weak cold front will move through tonight. The front will come through mostly dry, with a few isolated showers across the area close to sunset. We will only cool a couple of days for Thursday and Friday with high temperatures staying in the 70s. HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A heavy police presence has been spotted on Palmetto Point Blvd and Highway 17 in Horry County. It is unclear what has caused the police presence at this point. (WBTW) -- April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance month, and the state Department of Disabilities and Special Needs is working with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to be more inclusive by offering sensory bags. On Tuesday, locals, and visitors gathered for a watch party at the Tournament Players Club awaiting the results of the 'Q' at Myrtle Beach. DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Dillon woman was sentenced Tuesday to 17 years in prison for brutally beating an 83-year-old victim in July 2022, according to the 4th Circuit Solicitor's Office. Joanna Mack, 37, plead guilty to assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature in Dillon County court. Assistant Solicitor, Shipp Daniel, who prosecuted the case, said Mack's actions were a senseless act of violence. DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Latta woman who attempted to light a police officer on fire was sentenced Tuesday to over six years in prison, according to the 4th Circuit Solicitor's Office. Melissa McCoy, 38, plead guilty to first-degree assault and battery in Dillon County court. Circuit Court Judge Kirk Griffin sentenced McCoy to 6.5 years in prison, the solicitor's office said. (WBTW) -- A Dillon County man was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty on Tuesday to two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, the Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office said. Quincy Christian, 34, of Lake View, pleaded guilty in Dillon County General Sessions Court. Judge Kirk Griffin sentenced Christian to six years in prison.
