Dacarrei Kinard, the man who shot and killed 40-year-old George "Geo" Jensen during a road rage incident in Norton, was sentenced to 15 to 17.5 years in prison. The sentence was handed down by Judge Kathryn Michael during a very emotional hearing Friday afternoon. Cat allegedly starts Canton house fire; 37 cats rescued

A house fire broke out in Canton during Monday's solar eclipse leading to a large cat rescue. Just before 3 p.m., the Canton Fire Department responded to a home on 25th Street Northwest. When firefighters arrived, a woman was found outside saying there was a fire in her kitchen. The 76-year-old owner told investigators she believed one of her cats accidentally turned on a burner on her stove top. Firefighters rescued 37 cats from the home and quickly put out the fire. The Akron Zoo hosted an event called Total Eclipse of the Zoo, inviting 2,500 people from all over the country to watch the solar eclipse as well as learn how certain animals may react or not react during the historic event. Body camera footage released by the City of Akron on Monday shows an Akron Police officer shoot and strike a teenager in the hand immediately after he drove up to the scene and saw the teen had what was later determined to be a fake gun. A 15-year-old boy was shot by an Akron Police officer Monday after a female caller reported a person pulling out a gun and pointing it at houses in the area, according to a news release from the department. The officer, a nine-year veteran of Akron Police, responded and found the teen near the intersection of Brittain Road and Ottawa, the release states. A man who has served time in prison for burglary is in trouble once again. He's a suspect in a rash of home burglaries that happened on the same day in an Akron neighborhood. Gordon Mathews, 56, is charged with burglary, but police say additional charges could be filed. According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, Mathews spent more than six years behind bars on two burglary charges.
