WASHINGTON (AP) — The Eta Aquarid meteor shower, remnants of Halley's comet, peaks this weekend. And with just a waning crescent moon in the sky, it should be visible in skies across north central West Virginia. The Eta Aquarids occur every year in early May. This year’s peak activity happens early on Sunday, May 5, with an expected 10 to 30 meteors visible per hour in the Northern Hemisphere. WHITE HALL, W.Va. (WBOY) — One person had to be taken to the hospital Friday night following a vehicle accident that temporarily shut down part of U.S. Route 250 in White Hall. According to an official with the Marion County 911 Center, at around 7:37 p.m., crews were alerted to a vehicle accident with injuries on the Exit 132 offramp of Interstate 79 South. Emergency crews on-scene confirmed that two vehicles were involved and one person sustained injuries that required them to be taken to the hospital. Johnson VA Medical Center, was honored with the Daisy Award on Friday for the effort, compassion and care she provides to her patients. (WBOY) — Ritchie County residents went to the Ellenboro Town Hall Thursday night to express concerns after testing revealed that water in the Highland-Hebron area, which is in the northern part of the county, contained lead and arsenic.
