LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Jockey Junior Alvarado says he wouldn’t trade any horse for his Wood Memorial winner Resilience. A first Kentucky Derby win could be in the cards for Alvarado and he feels confident that his mount is the best he can get. “(Resilience) is progressing race by race,” said Alvarado. “He was able to win the Wood Memorial pretty easily. LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – According to CBS sports’ Matt Norlander, Mark Pope hired Baylor basketball assistant Alvin Brooks III as his associate head coach at Kentucky on Wednesday. Brooks comes to UK after serving as one of Scott Drew’s assistants for the last eight seasons, which included when the bears won their school’s first ever national title in 2021. After a few scattered showers as expected during the early morning hours of Wednesday, it turned out to be a pretty nice mid-week across Central and Eastern Kentucky.
