(WPRI) — A Providence man will spend six years behind bars at the ACI for drug trafficking, firearm-related crimes, and possessing a large amount of cocaine, according to a release from R.I. Attorney General Peter Neronha. Elvis Hernandez, 47, pleaded no contest to multiple counts of cocaine possession and related firearm charges Tuesday. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Four Rhode Islanders were arrested Friday morning for allegedly burglarizing homes in 25 Massachusetts cities and towns over the past six years. Massachusetts State Police and the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office say the four suspects are part of an organized burglary ring with ties to a "violent Providence-based gang." CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) — Work will soon begin on a new high school in Central Falls. A groundbreaking ceremony for the highly-anticipated school will be held at 2 p.m. It will replace the current, nearly 100-year-old school building, in a new location across the city at the corner of Lonsdale and Higginson avenues. Senate Judiciary Committee heard testimony Thursday from Rhode Islanders whose families have been impacted by drunk driving.
